En tant qu\u2019humains nous en avons aussi besoin pour des fonctions vitales telles que la synth\u00e8se de la <strong>vitamine D<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chez la plupart des animaux, qu&rsquo;ils aient des yeux semblables aux n\u00f4tres ou d&rsquo;autres types de photor\u00e9cepteurs, la lumi\u00e8re joue un r\u00f4le essentiel dans la vie. Source: Colley &amp; Nilsson (2016).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Certaines microalgues ont des oculaires avec des prot\u00e9ines photor\u00e9ceptrices et des carot\u00e9no\u00efdes, comme&nbsp;<strong><em>Euglena<\/em><\/strong><em>.&nbsp;<\/em>En fait, on sait qu&rsquo;au moins 9 types d&rsquo;algues poss\u00e8dent de tels organites. Par exemple les dinoflagell\u00e9s du genre <em>Erythropsidinium<\/em>, dont nous avons parl\u00e9 dans <a href=\"https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/2015\/09\/la-insolita-criatura-del-sr-hertwig.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00abLa ins\u00f3lita criatura del se\u00f1or Hertwig\u00bb<\/a>,&nbsp;poss\u00e8dent des <strong>ocello\u00efdes.<\/strong><em> Erythropsidinium&nbsp;<\/em>appartient \u00e0 une famille (<strong>Warnowiaceae<\/strong>) caract\u00e9ris\u00e9e par ces \u00ab\u00a0yeux microscopiques\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9labor\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les fonctions de base de ces structures dans le phytoplancton sont la d\u00e9tection de la lumi\u00e8re ambiante et la <strong>phototaxie <\/strong>(<em>mouvement guid\u00e9 par la lumi\u00e8re<\/em>). Outre les ocelles et les points oculaires, les chloroplastes peuvent \u00e9galement remplir des fonctions similaires, comme chez <strong><em>Chlamydomonas<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les photor\u00e9cepteurs sont proches des flagelles pour faciliter la transmission d&rsquo;informations sous forme de signaux \u00e9lectriques ou chimiques qui induisent le mouvement. <em>Les microalgues n&rsquo;ayant pas de cerveau<\/em> &#8211; <strong>tout est action-r\u00e9action !<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les esp\u00e8ces sans ocelles peuvent \u00e9galement d\u00e9tecter les changements de lumi\u00e8re gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des pigments photosensibles, bien que leur emplacement dans la cellule ne soit pas encore bien connu. On peut citer le dinoflagell\u00e9 <strong><em>Prorocentrum donghaiense<\/em><\/strong>, les diatom\u00e9es comme <strong><em>Pseudo-nitzschia granii<\/em><\/strong> et l&rsquo;haptophyc\u00e8te <strong><em>Phaeocystis globosa<\/em><\/strong>. (2018)<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, nous avons parl\u00e9 de lumi\u00e8re ambiante, de phototaxie et des flagelles. Mais dans le cas de groupes tels que les diatom\u00e9es (<em>sans flagelles chez les cellules v\u00e9g\u00e9tatives<\/em>), leur mobilit\u00e9 est r\u00e9duite par rapport aux organismes flagell\u00e9s. M\u00eame si elles peuvent se d\u00e9placer en glissant sur des surfaces, en modifiant la longueur de leurs cha\u00eenes (chevauchant plus ou moins les individus qui les composent) et en r\u00e9gulant leur flottabilit\u00e9 en fonction de la lumi\u00e8re et des nutriments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mais des travaux r\u00e9cents ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que certaines diatom\u00e9es poss\u00e8dent une capacit\u00e9 surprenante : elles communiquent en utilisant la lumi\u00e8re leur permettant ainsi de coordonner leurs mouvements &#8211; <strong>un comportement social !<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Font-Mu\u00f1oz et al. (2021) <\/strong><\/strong>ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 le mouvement des chloroplastes et des cellules de <em><strong>Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima<\/strong><\/em> dans des conditions de lumi\u00e8re et d&rsquo;obscurit\u00e9. Ils ont constat\u00e9 que les diatom\u00e9es oscillaient diff\u00e9remment lors de la s\u00e9dimentation.<strong><strong> Et surtout qu&rsquo;elles oscillaient de mani\u00e8re synchronis\u00e9e.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La synchronisation est due \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re rouge \u00e9mise par l&rsquo;autofluorescence de la chlorophylle. Il s&rsquo;agit de <em>la fluorescence naturelle \u00e9mise par les microalgues vivantes<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les diatom\u00e9es oscillent de mani\u00e8re rythmique et ce comportement produit des signaux intermittents. En d&rsquo;autres termes, chaque cellule agit comme un phare qui envoie un code lumineux aux autres. <strong><em>Un phare chlorophyllien rouge dans ce cas.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les flashs individuels \u00e9taient rapidement synchronis\u00e9s (sur des \u00e9chelles d&rsquo;une minute), et ont permis d&rsquo;identifier un signal caract\u00e9ristique dans la population. Ces impulsions lumineuses d\u00e9pendent de la fr\u00e9quence d&rsquo;oscillation, qui change en fonction de l&rsquo;orientation dans laquelle la cellule s\u00e9dimente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Et cette orientation des cellules est plus ou moins horizontale ou verticale selon le centre de masse, qui se d\u00e9place en fonction de la position des chloroplastes. Cependant, d\u00e8s qu\u2019il y a un peu d&rsquo;agitation dans l&rsquo;eau, <em>les diatom\u00e9es ne peuvent pas r\u00e9aliser leur nage synchronis\u00e9e<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">M\u00eame si la couleur bleue p\u00e9n\u00e8tre davantage dans l&rsquo;eau, la lumi\u00e8re rouge est mieux transmise par les diatom\u00e9es, qui peuvent d\u00e9tecter ces signaux. Elles poss\u00e8dent des photor\u00e9cepteurs rouges (<strong>phytochromes<\/strong>), contrairement aux autres groupes de phytoplancton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour d\u00e9montrer que la lumi\u00e8re d\u00e9clenche la synchronisation, <strong>Font-Mu\u00f1oz et al.<\/strong> ont expos\u00e9 un groupe de cellules \u00e0 des impulsions de lumi\u00e8re rouge imitant le signal \u00e9mis par d&rsquo;autres individus. Et &#8211; ta-da !
