C\u2019est la principale destination touristique de la Bolivie. Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elconfidencial.com\/viajes\/2021-04-28\/las-sorprendentes-islas-flotantes-del-lago-titicaca_3051255\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">El Confidencial<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La civilisation de Tiahuanaco (ou Tiwanaku, dans la vall\u00e9e du m\u00eame nom au sud-est de Titicaca) est le meilleur symbole de la culture pr\u00e9colombienne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La civilisation Tiwanaku \u00e9tait l&rsquo;une des civilisations les plus anciennes et les plus importantes d&rsquo;Am\u00e9rique du Sud, elle a prosp\u00e9r\u00e9 entre le VIe et le XIe si\u00e8cle. Sa domination n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas militaire, elle exer\u00e7ait son influence par le commerce, l&rsquo;agriculture et la religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Les Tiwanakus pratiquaient une agriculture intensive sur les plaines inondables et les pampas (plaines) du lac. Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/geocache\/GC7R0T4_el-lago-titicaca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Geocaching<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette agriculture, associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la production de ma\u00efs dans d&rsquo;autres r\u00e9gions ainsi qu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9levage de cam\u00e9lid\u00e9s (lamas et alpagas ; domestiqu\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de guanacos et de vigognes), a permis le commerce sur de longues distances pendant 600 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette communaut\u00e9 politique et religieuse s&rsquo;est effondr\u00e9e vers 1100. Les origines du d\u00e9clin de Tiwanaku font l&rsquo;objet de diverses hypoth\u00e8ses, dont l\u2019une d\u2019elle serait une p\u00e9riode de s\u00e9cheresse prolong\u00e9e dans la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s Tiwanaku, l&rsquo;occupation du lac s&rsquo;est poursuivie par des populations autonomes qui ont exploit\u00e9 les zones cultivables jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e de l&#8217;empire inca vers 1450.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mais le climat a t\u2019il \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la fin des Tiwanakus?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les changements climatiques figurent toujours parmi les causes favorisant l&rsquo;essor ou entrainant le d\u00e9clin des civilisations anciennes. En effet, les populations ont une grande d\u00e9pendance \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9gard d&rsquo;une agriculture stable (le ma\u00efs dans les cultures pr\u00e9colombiennes) et donc de l&rsquo;approvisionnement en eau (avec la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de p\u00e9riodes humides et s\u00e8ches tout au long de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour \u00e9tudier les variations climatiques, le dossier arch\u00e9ologique fournit des donn\u00e9es de diff\u00e9rents types qui peuvent \u00eatre confront\u00e9es aux changements socioculturels\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Et comment \u00e9tudier les oscillations climatiques dans une r\u00e9gion dot\u00e9e d&rsquo;un immense lac? <\/em>En utilisant les fossiles du plancton, en particulier ceux laiss\u00e9s par les <strong>diatom\u00e9es <\/strong>et leurs frustules de silice pendant des milliers d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es dans les s\u00e9diments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les diatom\u00e9es forment un composant abondant du phytoplancton avec des modes de vie vari\u00e9s et une multitude d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces. Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lonelyplanet.es\/america-del-sur\/bolivia\/imprescindible\/salar-de-uyuni\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LonelyPlanet<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le lac Titicaca poss\u00e8de une superficie de 8562 km<sup>2<\/sup> (un peu moins de la moiti\u00e9 du lac Ontario\u2026), comprenant le lac <strong>Wi\u00f1aymarka <\/strong>qui repr\u00e9sente \u00e0 lui seul 1470 km<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Et c\u2019est ce lac qui nous int\u00e9resse en raison de son influence sur la vall\u00e9e de Tiwanaku. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sa petite taille &#8211; et son lien \u00e9troit avec le grand lac Titicaca &#8211; rend son niveau plus sensible aux fluctuations du climat. Les changements seront d\u2019autant plus visibles chez les diatom\u00e9es\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pendant les p\u00e9riodes s\u00e8ches des derniers mill\u00e9naires, la communication entre le lac principal et Wi\u00f1aymarka a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duite, voire interrompue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durant ces p\u00e9riodes, l&rsquo;\u00e9vaporation fait baisser le niveau du bassin et fait augmenter la salinit\u00e9 du lac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans les cas extr\u00eames, le lac aurait pu s&rsquo;\u00e9vaporer compl\u00e8tement et laisser place \u00e0 un immense plateau sal\u00e9. Bien que cela ne se soit pas produit au lac Titicaca, un autre lac immense se trouvant sur les hauts plateaux de Bolivie a subi ce sort: l&rsquo;actuel <strong>Salar de Uyuni<\/strong>. Parfaitement visible sur la photo ci-dessous comme une \u00e9tendue blanche au sud du Titicaca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d9005781.415636564!2d-72.90534885152941!3d-15.872832640712875!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x915d9b22f6af7c75%3A0xf682724d4df71dc!2sTiticaca!5e1!3m2!1ses!2ses!4v1629565841284!5m2!1ses!2ses\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" style=\"border:0;\" allowfullscreen=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/6-ciclostephanos.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17737 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/6-ciclostephanos.jpg 400w, https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/6-ciclostephanos-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Les variations climatiques et leurs effets sur le niveau du Titicaca sont un puissant moteur de l&rsquo;\u00e9volution des diatom\u00e9es.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Par exemple, diff\u00e9rentes p\u00e9riodes climatiques &#8211; au cours des 400 000 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es &#8211; ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises en relation avec les changements de taille d&rsquo;une esp\u00e8ce end\u00e9mique et actuellement dominante : <em>Cyclostephanos andinus<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(Image: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geog.ucl.ac.uk\/news-events\/news\/news-archive\/2014\/april-2014\/climate-variation-through-time-as-viewed-through-the-lens-of-the-diatoms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">geog.ucl.ac.uk<\/a>).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour reconstituer les p\u00e9riodes climatiques (4000 ans) dans le Wi\u00f1aymarka des \u00e9chantillons de s\u00e9diments ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s (jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 environ 40 m de profondeur) et les fossiles de diatom\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9partis en <strong>5 groupes \u00e9cologiques<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>1&gt;Planctoniques d&rsquo;eau douce:<\/strong> vivant dans la colonne d&rsquo;eau \u00e0 des salinit\u00e9s faibles. (<em>Cyclostephanos andinus<\/em>, <em>Discostella stelligera<\/em> et <em>Fragilaria crotonensis<\/em>).<\/li><li><strong>2&gt;Planctoniques halotol\u00e9rantes:<\/strong> pouvant vivre dans l&rsquo;eau douce ou mod\u00e9r\u00e9ment sal\u00e9e (<em>Cyclotella meneghiniana<\/em>).<\/li><li><strong>3&gt;Benthiques: <\/strong>habitant les substrats \u00e9clair\u00e9s dans les eaux peu profondes. (p.ej. <em>Nitzschia denticulata<\/em> et <em>Epithemia <\/em>spp.).<\/li><li><strong>4&gt;Epiphytes:<\/strong> poussant attach\u00e9s aux plantes (<em>Cocconeis <\/em>spp.).<\/li><li><strong>5&gt;Salines: <\/strong>ayant besoin de salinit\u00e9s sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 2g L<sup>-1<\/sup> pour survivre (<em>Chaetoceros <\/em>sp., <em>Fragilaria zelleri<\/em>).<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tout ceci est un exemple de la fa\u00e7on dont la \u00ab\u00a0science fondamentale\u00a0\u00bb (dans ce cas, la taxonomie et l&rsquo;\u00e9cologie des diatom\u00e9es) peut contribuer \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres types d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes, en l&rsquo;occurrence ici des \u00e9tudes anthropologiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/4-diatoms-Lake-Winaymarka40.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/4-diatoms-Lake-Winaymarka40.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17541\" width=\"503\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/4-diatoms-Lake-Winaymarka40.jpg 640w, https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/4-diatoms-Lake-Winaymarka40-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fitopasion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/4-diatoms-Lake-Winaymarka40-450x356.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>\u00c9volution des 5 principaux groupes de diatom\u00e9es au cours des 4000 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es dans le lac Wy\u00f1aymarka. Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/349964159_The_Rise_and_Fall_of_Winaymarka_Rethinking_Cultural_and_Environmental_Interactions_in_the_Southern_Basin_of_Lake_Titicaca\/figures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Researchgate<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La m\u00e9thode est qualitative, mais permet d\u2019estimer les changements de niveau du lac et de les mettre en relation avec d&rsquo;autres indicateurs arch\u00e9ologiques (plantes, animaux et archives g\u00e9ologiques).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En p\u00e9riode s\u00e8che, le Wi\u00f1aymarka \u00e9tait moins profond et la population de microalgues \u00e9tait domin\u00e9e par des diatom\u00e9es \u00e9piphytes et benthiques. Lorsque son bassin a \u00e9t\u00e9 encore plus r\u00e9duit et isol\u00e9 du bassin principal, la salinit\u00e9 a augment\u00e9 et a favoris\u00e9 les diatom\u00e9es salines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au contraire, lorsque les niveaux d&rsquo;eau ont remont\u00e9, les esp\u00e8ces halotol\u00e9rantes ont occup\u00e9 cette niche de salinit\u00e9s interm\u00e9diaires et d&rsquo;eaux plus profondes. Enfin lorsque les niveaux d\u2019eau ont atteint les niveaux actuels, les esp\u00e8ces d&rsquo;eau douce ont domin\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finalmente, si el nivel sube a valores como los actuales lo que predominan son especies de agua dulce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Les r\u00e9sultats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s r\u00e9v\u00e9lateurs et ont mis en \u00e9vidence les changements suivants. <\/strong>Le Wi\u00f1aymarka a oscill\u00e9 entre des niveaux bas et des salinit\u00e9s mod\u00e9r\u00e9es depuis le d\u00e9but de la s\u00e9rie historique (4000 av. J.-C.) jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 700 av. J.-C. Pendant ces si\u00e8cles, le climat a vari\u00e9, mais les diatom\u00e9es d&rsquo;eau douce sont rest\u00e9es minoritaires&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depuis, les diatom\u00e9es d\u2019eau douce ont renforc\u00e9 leur pr\u00e9sence. Cette augmentation ne se produit que lorsque le Wi\u00f1aymarka atteint son niveau maximum et d\u00e9borde par la rivi\u00e8re Desaguadero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette premi\u00e8re augmentation a sembl\u00e9 ralentir vers 1120, soit \u00e0 la fin de la civilisation Tiwanaku. Une nouvelle augmentation &#8211; 150 ans plus tard &#8211; l&rsquo;a amen\u00e9 jusqu\u2019aux niveaux actuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ainsi, le Wi\u00f1aymarka atteint pour la premi\u00e8re fois des dimensions comparables \u00e0 celles pr\u00e9sentes au milieu de la p\u00e9riode Tiwanaku. Alors que pendant les si\u00e8cles pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents, il \u00e9tait toujours \u00e0 des niveaux inf\u00e9rieurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les diatom\u00e9es nous apprennent que les Tiwanaku ont connu des climats secs (avec des s\u00e9cheresses mod\u00e9r\u00e9es) et des climats humides similaires \u00e0 ceux d&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui.
